Five Pillars of Our Faith
Grace
Heaven is a free gift.
"The gift of God is eternal life" (Romans 6:23)
Heaven is not earned or deserved.
"For it is by grace we are saved, through faith, not of
ourselves, it is a gift of God, not of works lest any man
boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Man
Man is a sinner.
"For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of
God" (Romans 3:23)
Man cannot save himself.
"Be ye perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect"
(Matthew 5:48)
God
God is merciful and does not want to punish us.
"God is Love" (John 4:8)
God is just, therefore must punish sin.
"For He will by no means clear the guilty" (Exodus 34:7)
Christ
Christ is the infinite God-Man.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and
dwelt among us" (John 1:1,14)
Christ died on the cross and rose from the dead to
pay the penalty for our sins and to purchase a place in
heaven for us.
"We all, like sheep have gone astray, each of us has
turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the
iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:6)
Faith (key to heaven)
Faith is not head knowledge or temporary.
"You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons
also believe, and shudder." (James 2:19)
True saving faith is trusting in Jesus Christ
alone, for eternal life.
"...Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved..."
(Acts 16:31)
